Dear Zoë,

I wanted to tell you about the day before you were born. Your father, mum and Joshua came over to our house in Coogee. It was Christmas Eve, and we all hoped you would be born the next day. David, my son, was just a baby at the time, barely 2 months old (so he is the same age as you). We all got ready to go to the beach, and started hopping into the cars to leave, when your mum pointed out that we had left David locked in the house! At least we had our house keys with us!

After we went to Bronte Beach we came back to our house and ordered pepperoni pizza for dinner. It was very spicy. So spicy in fact that your mum claimed it caused her to go into labour! Maybe it’s true, because you were born the next day, on Christmas. Robert and I have always believed that the pizza we ordered helped to get you born on such a special day.

We miss your mum and will never forget her.
