I am really thrilled.
For some reason, I felt confident that there could not be any other outcome.
My father died when I was 13 and my brothers and I were brought up by my
mother. That meant that we ended up even closer to my mother than ever. I
was very touched by your reference to your late wife.

Dear All,
I have just had official word that the Vice Chancellor has appointed
me a full professor as from 1 January 2002. So after 4 1/2 months the
process is successfully over.
I'd like to thank each of you for your support of my application (even if
you didn't realise you had supported it).
My only regret is that Hazel didn't live to share my happiness and
satisfaction.
