Organisational Applications of Social Cognitive Theory

Albert Bandura

Abstract

Social cognitive theory explains psychosocial functioning in terms of triadic reciprocal causation. In this casual model, behaviour, cognitive and other personal factors and environmental events all operate as interacting determinates that influence each other bidirectionally. This article focuses on how personal factors that contribute importantly to this dynamic interaction can be altered to improve the level of organisational functioning.
