Hazel to Nancy and Steve, 1997

Dear Steve and Nancy,

Just a quick note to say the Irish police and Millie on duty were a great success, although Joshua's friends had a hard time absorbing the concept of a bunch of New York policemen sending him birthday greetings. I think Rob took these painting photos to send to you. I'm learning all the time and one day I will start painting at home (perhaps when everyone else leaves!).

Dov & Cathy & Anna are visiting at the moment. They came to the mountains with us. Dov looks very well -- he has lost 20 lbs and Anna is a very contented baby. They are staying with his sister and really enjoying their 3 weeks vacation.

Joshua wrote his card some time ago so I better get it off.

Henri. next door, just told me a joke. "A man joined a very strict order. No talking except for 2 words once every year. At the end of the 1st year he went to the Head of the Order & said, "Hard bed". At the end of the 2nd year, he said, "Bad food". At the end of the 3rd year he said, "I'm leaving". The head of the order said. "Good; you've done nothing but complain since you got here"."

All our love

Hazel Rob J & Z.
