Dear Joan,
Just a quick note to say thank you for all the Christmas presents which we opened on Christmas Day in hospital. I look forward to using the cookbook and the stationary and reading the Bradbury novel. Joshua has really taken to the number cards you sent without the slightest idea that they relate to numbers. He mostly likes throwing them around and occasionally chewing them. And Zoë hasn’t yet spied her pink dress but I’m sure when the time comes, she’ll be delighted. I’m enclosing a photo of us shortly after the birth — Zoë is sensibly sleeping it off. We look forward to seeing you soon. All our love, & thanks again,
