Dear Bob,

Thank you so much for Hazel’s pages.

I only got them today and have not had time to read all of it yet.

As you can imagine I was very shocked by the news that Hazel had died 4 years ago. What a cruel disease cancer is.

I ran the childbirth classes for about 10 years and had 4 groups per year. I do not remember all "my couples" but I do remember you and Hazel quite clearly. I think you might have been one of the oldest couples to have baby number one. I also remember you telling me where you worked. I wonder if we had the get together with the new babies at your house? I do not know how, but I had heard that you had another baby the year after Josh was born. What I do remember very clearly was how Hazel absolutely seemed to love being a mother in those early months of Josh’s life. She said something about feeling slightly guilty about being away from her "real" job and enjoying motherhood so much.

I hope you and the kids are going well.

Best wishes from Nanna.

Nanna was, as she tells, the leader of the ante-natal classes Hazel and I attended in March and April, 1989, in a kindergarten in Rushcutters Bay, before Josh was born.

Hazel did have the mothers’ and babies’ get-together here at 6 Vincent Street, in the room where I sit typing this now, in June or July 1989, I think. There is a photo on the piano of Josh on Hazel’s knee at the get-together.
