Dear Bob,
I was very sad to hear of Hazel’s death. Unfortunately I could not make the funeral on Monday morning because of prior committments, howver my thoughts were with you & your children.
I have a vivid visual memory of you & Hazel standing outside the church after James’ funeral. The two of you looked strikingly elegant together & so deeply sad.
Although I wasn’t a close friend of Hazel’s, I did like her very much. She was always fun & probably a bit too brave & concerned with other people’s feelings. When James left, I found Hazel’s response to it one of the most helpful from amongst my friends.
I can imagine that you & the children have been through a harrowing time over these recent years & particularly the last months. No doubt the grief & pain will continue for some time, but hopefully will recede into the background & be nurtured by the good memories of Hazel, who was truly a special person.
If there is any way I can be of help to you or the kids, please let me know.
Yours
Morna
Morna was a friend of Hazel’s and mine.
