Rob, Joshua and Zoë;

Thank you so much for sharing with me the beautiful memories of Hazel. As I read the web page and saw the pictures of her it reminded me of when I met her that Christmas in San Francisco. What struck me about her was how familiar she seemed, as if I had always known her. I remember having conversations with her while she was busy in the kitchen, talking about her career and about family, as if our conversations were a familiar and common occurence rather than two people getting to know each other who had never before met. That Christmas I remember meeting all of you for the first time, going for walks together and enjoying your family as my family who I wish we had been able to live next door to rather than on different continents. Hazel was a person who I saw as a role model, a person who had managed to master that delicate balance between a successful career and a devotion to her family. I remember thinking how interesting her life was and how I would be lucky to achieve her kind of success.
